On-Trend Tees and Turquoise Talons

After my recent Orla Kiely-Uniqlo find, I wanted to check out the Lulu Guinness t-shirt collection at Uniqlo. There are a range of different graphic tees available with lots of quirky, ironic--and iconic--prints, most in black-and-white with pops of red. I was tempted by the cameo design, the trompe-l'œil pearls and, of course, the kitteh.

But although I would never wear an overtly touristy London t-shirt, I do quite like London- and New York-inspired tops, especially those that feature elements of the skyline, so the London by Night t-shirt was perfect. I found it in a midnight navy first, which would normally be my first choice, but after a long deliberation, I bought the black-on-white design. At the moment, they're on sale for £12.90, which is pretty good for a cute graphic tee.

Another great new collaboration is between Superdrug and the nail varnish brand Essie. I really like Essie varnishes: they have pretty colours with cute names, their wide brush makes them easy to apply and they last a fairly long time. In the US, an Essie varnish is only about $8 but in the UK, they are normally £10, which is quite expensive, although I do think the quality makes them worth it. Now, though, selected branches of Superdrug are selling a wide range of Essie colours for only £7.99.

I wanted to get something light and spring-appropriate and couldn't decide between Lilacism, a pastel lilac colour, and Turquoise & Caicos, but chose the latter in the end. The colour is more like a Tiffany blue or a light aqua rather than my definition of turquoise, which is a brighter, deeper and bluer shade. I think this varnish will look particularly good when I've got a tan (hint, hint, English weather).
